Hi guys!

I just want to let you know that from now on, I will not be using this blog page. I know, sad. However, I will still use the portfolio portion of it.

This blog was made for my multimedia journalism class. Now that I have passed that class (thank God), I am going to be more active on my personal blog.

See you there!

Summer Playlist: 5 Songs to Jam to This Summer

Summer holiday is coming! Putting aside the stress of finals week, graduation and moving out, I’m really looking forward to my favorite time of the year. After spending 9 months in the tundra that is South Dakota, it is about time to put on my summer dresses and jam to my summer playlist.

With that being said, here are the top 5 songs that I recommend blasting on your speakers while enjoying the summer sunshine.

Can’t Stop the Feeling – Justin Timberlake (2016)

He’s bringing sexy groove back. Justin Timberlake finally released a new song since his last album The 20/20 Experience in 2013 just in time for summer. With an upbeat and happy vibe, this is the right (and appropriate) song to dance to with your little cousins on the Fourth of July.

Who to enjoy this song with: friends, family, neighbors and pets.

Come Fly with Me: How to Score Cheap Flights

Every time I try to persuade my friends to visit me in Indonesia, their main excuses are either “It takes forever to get there” or “It’s so expensive to get there.” Well, I’m no engineer that can shorten flight duration, but I can sure help find cheap/discounted flights. Not only to Indonesia, but also everywhere. Now we’re talking.

I usually first check websites such as Secret Flying and Flight Deal for flight deals. Both of these websites immediately post flight deals and fare errors once their team of enthusiast travelers and experts get the details.

Cheap flight offers from anywhere to everywhere in the world in one website? Yes, please.

Review: EF College Break

I have always liked traveling solo; I can set my own pace and go to places that I really want to go to without worrying about the others’ needs. However, for my spring break, I decided to break my habit and book a trip with EF College Break to Costa Rica. (To see the highlights of my trip, check out my personal blog!)

EF College Break runs all-inclusive trips all over the world for 18 to 28 year olds. Covered in the programs are: optional roundtrip flights (I used my miles instead), accommodations, 24/7 tour director, transportation between cities, and breakfast everyday.

With me being a non-Spanish speaker (although a lot of Costa Ricans seemed to think so), I thought EF College Break would be a great guide to a new country that I have never explored before.

Two Ends of a Spectrum: AirBnB Experience

“I am so sorry that your boat broke down! Do you want some water or beer?” Sandra, one of our hosts, asked while she checked my host sister and me in to our room. “Also, I understand that you’re tired, but you should join us for mojito and sunset watching tonight.”

Have your ever heard those words come out of a hotel receptionist? I don’t think so.

AirBnB is more than just a service that connects guests and hosts: It’s a community. Not only does it strive to make you feel at home while you’re away from home, but AirBnB also becomes a platform for travelers to create connections and friendships.

That is one of many reasons I prefer staying at an AirBnB. From my past experiences, my hosts were all amazing. I especially love David and Sandra from my Gili Trawangan AirBnB.

Your Less Mainstream Guide to Bali

Everybody knows that you should visit beaches, temples, and rice terraces when you’re in Bali, but what else? In addition to common tourist favorites you always find when you search online, here are the less mainstream Bali destinations you should check out.

Open Air Restaurants

El Kabron

Potato Head

Beach clubs such as El Kabron and Potato Head have become local favorites because of their exquisite infinity pools overlooking the Indian Ocean. If the beach is not your thing, head out to Jungle Fish and Hanging Gardens. There you can lounge in the infinity pool and gaze out on Bali’s lush forests.
