Your Less Mainstream Guide to Bali

Everybody knows that you should visit beaches, temples, and rice terraces when you’re in Bali, but what else? In addition to common tourist favorites you always find when you search online, here are the less mainstream Bali destinations you should check out.

Potato Head

Beach clubs such as El Kabron and Potato Head have become local favorites because of their exquisite infinity pools overlooking the Indian Ocean. If the beach is not your thing, head out to Jungle Fish and Hanging Gardens. There you can lounge in the infinity pool and gaze out on Bali’s lush forests.

Pod Chocolate Factory and Cafe

This is the only place in Bali where you can go on an elephant ride, take a local chocolate tasting tour, and get a picture with a sun bear at the same location.

Hot Spring

Relax your body and soul by immersing yourself in Batur Natural Hot Spring. This lakefront hot spring is known as the healing spa in Bali, with the mineral spring water running straight from an underground source.

Stay Up North

For those who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of touristy Bali, Buleleng in the north is the place to go. Rent a private villa and enjoy the beauty and solitude. Plus, you can go on a dolphin-watching tour in the morning!

Gili Trawangan

The Nusa and Gili islands are getaways from Bali, as if Bali is not a getaway itself. These smaller islands are only reachable by fast boats from Bali ports and are heaven for snorkelers and divers.
